Department Summary

The University of North Texas Health Science Center is one of the three higher education institutions of the University of North Texas (UNT) System, with the UNT at Denton and the UNT at Dallas as two other higher education institutions. The UNT System provides high-quality education to those in the North Texas region, including Fort Worth, Dallas, Denton, and Frisco, as well as those from other states. The UNT System has 14,730 employees and educates 49,060 students in the Dallas-Fort Worth North Texas region, which ranks as the fourth largest metroplex in the nation. Position Overview

The College of Public Health (CPH) at The University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) seeks applications to fill a full-time open rank faculty position in the Department of Population & Community Health. This is a 12-month, tenure-track appointment with a primary focus on developing and collaborating for externally funded research and covering graduate education in biostatistics and related fields. The candidate should have earned a doctoral degree in biostatistics, statistics, or a related quantitative discipline.

The successful candidate should demonstrate a record of independent and/or collaborative research programs or have an emerging record of developing such programs. The candidate will teach graduate-level biostatistics courses annually. The faculty member will also contribute to course development and curriculum planning, advise and mentor graduate students, provide service to the department and university, and engage in scholarly activities focusing on the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate effectiveness in developing and collaborating with research teams to obtain external research funding and a commitment to developing and practicing effective, evidence-based teaching strategies tailored to public health-related applications.

Doctoral degree in biostatistics, statistics, or a closely related quantitative field
Proven graduate-level teaching experience
Strong commitment to evidence-based teaching practices and student success

Job Duties:

• 1. Research: • Develop and maintain an externally funded, active research portfolio as principal investigator or as part of teams • Engage in biostatistical methodology research with applications to health sciences • Collaborate with CPH and UNTHSC colleagues and external academic and community partners to develop vibrant research teams and nurture an inclusive, interdisciplinary collaborative environment • Develop new collaborative relationships with academic, community, and industry partners to provide opportunities for faculty and students be added by department.
• 2. Teaching and Curriculum Development: • Develop and deliver graduate-level biostatistics, data science, and related courses • Create and update course materials, syllabi, and assessments to ensure curriculum relevance and alignment with the latest academic and industry trends • Mentor students and early career researchers through advising and consultation on research projects and career development.
• 3. Service, Engagement, and Professional Development: • Provide leadership in the College of Public Health and UNTHSC • Stay current with emerging trends and challenges in biostatistics • Participate in relevant professional organizations and networks to maintain a strong presence to help improve student recruitment and outcomes and CPH reputation • Be an engaged scholar outfacing the community.
