Department Summary

Founded in 1997 and located in the heart of Fort Worth’s vibrant Cultural District for over 20 years, the HSC at Fort Worth Physician Assistant Program has played a pivotal role in shaping skilled PAs who positively impact our community. We are dedicated to continuously enhancing our curriculum and creating immersive Experiential Learning opportunities that equip our graduates for success in one of the nation’s top healthcare professions. Our program consistently achieves outstanding performance on the national certifying exam, reflecting our strong commitment to Interprofessional Education. The Department of Physician Assistant Studies at HSC emphasizes hands-on learning, ensuring that our students gain the confidence and practical experience needed to become exceptional healthcare providers.

Position Overview

The Department of Physician Assistant Studies is seeking an experienced PA educator for an Assistant Professor position. The most competitive applicant will be a team player, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be experienced in teaching and research, and be comfortable using common software programs (e.g., Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.).

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Preparing instruction, delivering instruction, and assessing student performance.
• Participating in the programs self-evaluation processes.
• Participating in student recruitment, interviews and selection.
• Mentoring students in their professional development.
• Conducting research related to PA practice or education.
• Developing/applying for grants.
• Other scholarly activities.

PA faculty members are given release time to maintain clinical skills through the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth (UNTHSC) multispecialty group practice or through other arrangements. Faculty members enjoy excellent working relationships on campus and are eligible for state benefits including health insurance, retirement, holidays and vacation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in PA Studies or a related field is required.
  • Applicants must currently hold or be eligible for PA licensure in the State of Texas.
  • Current NCCPA certification is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge and skills necessary to demonstrate the PA profession’s competencies to other in an educational setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in higher education is preferred.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

  • Applicants must currently hold or be eligible for PA licensure in the State of Texas.
  • Current NCCPA certification is required.
