Department Summary

The mission of the Division of Student Affairs is to create transformational experiences for all HSC students by providing tailored support and fostering holistic development. There are 8 functional units within the Division of Student Affairs: Center for Student Life, Career Readiness Center, Center for Academic Performance, Office of Care and Civility, Testing and Evaluation Services, International Services, Office of Disability Access, and Student Assistance Resource Center.

Position Overview

The Assistant Director of Student Assessment will serve as the primary liaison with the HSC Learning Management System (i.e. Canvas) and deliver support of such to the TES staff. This position will also support the management of SharePoint for all TES staff. They will assist the Director of TES with developing, sustaining, and growing student assessment programs and services. Collaborate with the Director to establish and implement department goals and objectives. Additionally, they will participate in the development of policy and procedures related to examination administration and computer-based testing. Interpret and enforce policies, procedures, and strategies.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four (4) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • A highly organized self-starter and an independent thinker with the ability to work collaboratively with fellow employees, faculty and staff.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with varying deadlines in a high paced, time-sensitive environment.

Prefer a Masters degree in Information Science, Education, Psychology, or other relevant field, or comparable relevant experience.

Job Duties:

  • Support TES Specialists in management of student assessment services for academic programs. Manage the training of Specialists in computer-based testing processes. Coach Specialists in prioritizing duties and managing workload. Manage the overall testing schedule. Serve as primary ExamSoft support for TES Specialists, students, and academic departments. Serve as student assessment technical support.
  • Supervise hourly part-time Proctors. Manage the scheduling of all Proctors. Ensure that classroom exams are adequately staffed for proctoring support. Track and record Proctor time. Coordinate the regular training of Proctors. Support Proctors in conducting their regular duties. Participate in the hiring of full time staff.
  • Support the administration of all external assessments. Manage the end-of-clerkship assessment process including tracking clerkship schedules, ordering exams from external agencies, scheduling and administering exams, communicating with students and staff, reporting results, and facilitating makeup exams. 
  • Manage student data including student leave of absences, withdrawals, name changes, and faculty changes. Oversee the tracking of student accommodations. Ensure the security of all tests and student data. Support the collection, tabulation, and analysis of student assessment data for special projects and requests. Support the collection of course data to enable the administration of course and faculty evaluations by students.
  • Lead the collection of course data to enable the administration of course and faculty evaluations by students, and oversee the use of rubrics for assessment solutions. Support Specialists as they implement processes related to rubrics assessments.

Work Schedule:

Monday – Friday; 8:00am-5:00pm, with occasional evenings or weekends as required for divisional events and occasionally required to come in before 8:00am to set up on exam days.
