Department Summary

Radio, television, film and digital media platforms play a significant role in society by providing both entertainment and information in a constantly changing world. The Department of Media Arts prepares students with a wide range of knowledge and skills for careers in traditional media (broadcasting, film production, editing, on-air talent, audience research, media management) and newer media (writing and producing for social media and digital media platforms, including video games).

Media Arts students engage in a curriculum that combines a liberal arts education with hands-on experience utilizing similar tools used by industry professionals. The Media Arts department equips students with the foundational principals, critical thinking, skills and opportunities they need to succeed in today’s ever-changing media world. Courses afford students unique opportunities to learn from expert faculty members who are committed to readying students for future careers in the media industry or academia.

Position Overview

The NTSN Technical Director would oversee our crew and direct the broadcast of games. We plan to broadcast 19 total games from late August to November, streamed live on www.medianorthtexas.com, plus train students on various duties.

Minimum Qualifications

One-year experience producing and/or directing a live streamed broadcast. Knowledge of high school football.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • High school football
  • Components of a live sports broadcast
  • Ability to use V-Mix software or related product

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience using V-Mix software

Job Duties:

  • Plan the broadcast of Denton ISD football games.
  • Direct the broadcast of Denton ISD football games.
  • Produce commercials for sponsors and insert approved spots into V-Mix.
  • Get live broadcast to appear on Media North Texas website.
  • Prep content on website.

Physical Requirements:

  • Communicating with others to exchange information. 
  • Lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds. 
  • Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment. 
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.

Environmental Hazards:

  • No adverse environmental conditions expected.
  • Low temperatures. 

Work Schedule:

Select Thursday and Friday nights from late August to early November.
