Department Summary

The Institute for Translational Research is devoted to bringing novel diagnostics and interventions to patients and families suffering from neurodegenerative diseases, fostering translational research in neurodegenerative diseases at UNTHSC, and Create solutions for a healthier community. Our team spans basic "bench-top" science, clinical research, community-based research and clinical trials. Our translational approach is intended to foster discovery and expedite those discoveries toward the benefit of those suffering from brain disease. A particular emphasis of ITR is the development of personalized (or person-focused) medicine for Alzheimer's disease.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for coordinating the Alzheimer Biomarkers Consortium — Down Syndrome (ABC-DS) project. As coordinator of this study incumbent initiates and aids in the creation of new procedures and protocols for our team. Creates systems for tracking our metrics and cohort, assists with recruitment and retention of participants, trains and supervises staff, and manages the daily operations for our clinical components.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four (4) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and they must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced MS Office skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, to adjust to constant changes, and to handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data of complex nature, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable formats
  • Ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple programs and assignments effectively
  • Ability to work on complex and confidential tasks utilizing judgment, tact, and resourcefulness
  • Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships
  • Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned function

Required License/Registration/Certifications

 

Job Duties

  • Serve as the coordinator for the ABC-DS NIH Funded study.
  • Provide quality checks for obtained research data.
  • Provide daily supervision of personnel working on the study.
  • Provide input into the daily workings of the study.
  • Provides updates, as well as, direct input into protocol issues and refinement.
  • Collect and provide feedback to scientists on performance metrics of this study.
  • Maintain protocol compliance and requirements.
  • Perform basic medical duties such as collection of vitals, ECGs, and other procedures as needed.
  • Participate in monitoring visits, remote monitoring visits, and site initiation visits.
  • Prepares reports and provides weekly updates to PI and study doctors.
  • Assist with recruitment of participants and project metrics.
  • Assists with recruitment and retention of participants.
  • Create systems for tracking our metrics and cohort. Metric reporting.
