Department Summary

The Texas Talent Accelerator, launched by the University of North Texas, is a strategic regional initiative designed to address the evolving workforce needs of the rapidly growing North Texas region. As part of a collaborative network of employers, educational institutions, and economic development partners, the Accelerator works to align talent development with industry demands, foster innovation, and strengthen the region’s economic competitiveness. Located in one of the nation’s most dynamic business corridors, this initiative plays a critical role in shaping the future of workforce readiness and regional prosperity. Professionals joining this effort will contribute to impactful, system-wide solutions that support economic growth and improve career outcomes across the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Position Overview

The Director of Workforce Intelligence & Spatial Analytics provides leadership in labor market research, forecasting, and data-driven insights that inform academic program alignment, employer partnerships, and regional workforce strategies. Reporting to the Managing Director, Research and Innovation, the Director ensures that the Texas Talent Accelerator produces credible, actionable intelligence for a diverse set of stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in economics, data science, sociology, public policy or related field. Seven years of experience in workforce or labor market research. Demonstrated leadership managing research and analytical projects.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Expertise in GIS, labor market analysis, workforce forecasting, and applied research methods.
* Strong project management and leadership skills.
* Ability to communicate complex findings clearly to multiple audiences.
* Proficiency in data tools such as Esri, R, Python, Tableau, or Power BI.
* Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

· Master’s degree in economics, data science, sociology, public policy, or related field.
· At least 7 years of experience in workforce or labor market research.
· Demonstrated leadership managing research and analytic projects.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

 

Job Duties

  • Lead development of spatial analyses, labor market analyses, sector reports, and forecasting models. 
  • Oversee vendor and partner relationships related to labor market data. 
  • Supervise analytic staff and ensure data integrity. 
  • Provide policy-relevant insights to employers, educators, and policymakers. 
  • Represent UNT and the Texas Talent Accelerator in regional and national workforce forums.
