Department Summary

The Toulouse Graduate School within the Division of Research & Innovation promotes and supports graduate student education by overseeing graduate student programs, professional development, and graduate student research engagement. TGS collaborates with departments in recruitment, admissions, and enrollment services to support and enhance the UNT graduate student experience and help students succeed both academically and in their future careers.

Position Overview

Evaluates degree plans and other documents submitted by programs for doctoral and masters students, to ensure that the plan of study adheres to the requirements for graduation as well as graduate catalog and university standards. This position assists with evaluation of Graduate Student Full-Time Enrollment forms in conjunction with the International Student and Scholar Services Office. The position assists with coordination of commencement ceremonies and supports graduation through degree plan processing, and provides customer service to UNT faculty, staff, and graduate students.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree and two years of office administration experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Demonstrated ability to provide outstanding customer service.
Demonstrated skill in verbal and written communications.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability handle multiple priorities.
Strong attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with PeopleSoft EIS software modules.
Bachelors degree preferred.
Experience working in higher education.

Job Duties

  • Maintain current and accurate faculty list of UNT faculty and outside faculty approved to serve on thesis and dissertation committees. Process faculty nominations submitted by academic departments. 
  • Routinely audits all graduate students files for academic concerns and identify any issues that might hinder timely graduation for a student. 
  • Review and process less than full time enrollment forms for International Student and Scholar Office. 
  • Review degree plans, committee forms, transfer request forms, and degree plan change forms for all doctoral and masters programs, for compliance with catalog and university requirements. Approve degree plans and other forms, and provide feedback to the program/department and students if additional information or changes are required.
  • Evaluates Qualifying Examination forms submitted by programs for accuracy and eligibility for ABD (all but dissertation) status. 
  • Reviews time extension requests submitted by program for accuracy and eligibility for approval. 
  • Reviews and approves leave of absence requests submitted by programs for accuracy and eligibility for approval. 
  • Assists in the final review of graduation applications to ensure all degree requirements were met prior to degree posting. Assist with commencement related tasks.
  • Provide excellent customer service to graduate students and UNT faculty/staff regarding academics and degree plan related policies via email, phone, and in person contact. 
  • Completes miscellaneous projects and tasks as needed.
