Position Overview The University of North Texas College of Music is seeking an energetic artist/teacher who will steward a large and active university athletic band program and become an integral part of a team of educators who have developed one of the nation’s leading wind studies programs. This faculty appointment resides in the Division of Conducting and Ensembles in the UNT College of Music. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to recruit and mentor undergraduate music education majors and graduate students in wind band conducting. The candidate should have the ability to maintain high visibility in the field locally, regionally, and nationally. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able to create and maintain positive relationships within the College of Music, North Texas Athletics, the President’s Office, the UNT Alumni Association, and the community at large. |

Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in conducting or music education required; documented ability to organize, teach, and manage a complex and comprehensive athletic band program; documented ability to teach/conduct an excellent concert band; clear evidence of collegiality; emerging or established reputation with public school or university equivalent teaching experience. The successful candidate is expected to be an outstanding musician and teacher who has excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. The ability to recruit and retain students are also important components of the job, as is fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for students. |

Preferred Qualifications Doctorate in Music; evidence of significant work as a college athletic band director, exemplary skills in contemporary show design, as well as an established record as an artistic wind band conductor/teacher. |
