Department Summary

The University of North Texas Health Science Center is one of the fastest-growing academic health science centers in Texas. The University currently enrolls 2,700 graduate students who are pursuing degrees in medicine, bio-medical sciences, pharmacy, physical therapy, physician assistant studies, nutrition, lifestyle health, and public health. The University is well-positioned for rapid expansion, matching the growing population and economic vitality of the DFW Metroplex.

Position Overview

Serve as the key communications advisor for the College of Health Professions in all areas of strategic communications, collegiate branding, digital strategy, and marketing. This person is responsible for all communications and marketing initiatives supporting all relevant programs. They are also responsible for providing all communication and marketing support to the units they serve.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and five (5) years related experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of communications, marketing, and branding practices.
  • Skill in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Windows navigation.
  • Strong business acumen, excellent leadership skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience managing marketing collateral design.
  • Familiarity with development process for print and digital communications channels, including website and broadcast.

Job Duties

  • Serve as senior communications and strategy officer for the college.
  • Work collaboratively with the Admissions and Recruiting Team to support recruitment marketing initiatives.
  • Support the college by cultivating relationships with internal and external stakeholders and strategic partners.
  • Oversee robust, integrated strategic communication and marketing plan to achieve colleges objectives.
  • Bring together all facets of strategic messaging, media relations, print and digital communication, issues and crisis management, and messaging with the HSC MarCom Team.
  • Oversee the content of the colleges landing pages on unthsc.edu.
  • Coordinate and maintain an engaging social media program.
  • Participate in special events as needed.
  • Develop and maintain an appropriate system of internal controls for management and measurement of communications and marketing efforts.
  • Represent college on committees as requested.
  • Plan, edit and write content for a variety of internal and external mediums.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
