As the largest self-supported food service department in North Texas, UNT Dining Services is setting the standard for campus dining. With five Dining Halls, more than 20 retail locations, an upscale restaurant, a hydroponic garden, a central scratch bakery, and full-service catering, the department is led by a team of professionally trained chefs and hospitality experts. UNT is recognized as a national leader in university dining, known for its innovative, trendsetting approach and award-winning culinary talent.

UNT Dining Services is home to Mean Greens Café, the nation’s first 100% vegan collegiate dining hall, and Kitchen West, Texas’ first and only university dining hall certified Free From™ the Big 8 food allergens and gluten. In 2021, UNT introduced Eagle Landing, the university’s first standalone dining hall, inspired by urban food halls and featuring seven distinct restaurant concepts—all available for a single Meal Plan swipe.

Recognized for excellence, UNT was ranked No. 2 nationwide for best college food by Delish.com. The department is also the proud recipient of the prestigious Loyal E. Horton Award and the Vegan Recipe Award from the National Association of College and University Food Services. As a founding member of the Menus of Change University Research Collaborative, UNT plays an active role in pioneering research on plant-forward diets, food waste reduction, and consumer food choices, all while advancing the principles of healthy, sustainable menus.

Position Overview

Provides general operational support for UNT Champs Dining, including processing transactions, greeting and assisting guests, completing basic administrative and organizational tasks, performing light cleaning, and assisting with general duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrates strong customer service and communication skills, basic organizational abilities, and the ability to accurately process transactions. Must be dependable, able to follow instructions, maintain a clean and organized work environment, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Ability to perform light physical duties such as standing, bending, lifting light materials, and cleaning.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Basic knowledge of customer service practices and professional guest interactions.

Ability to accurately process card and other customer transactions.

Basic organizational and administrative skills.

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Strong attention to detail when completing filing, organizing, and other administrative tasks.

Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with staff and guests.

Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.

Ability to use basic office supplies and equipment.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities.

Dependable, punctual, and willing to assist with a variety of general operational duties.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

Must be able to work the following schedule: (Monday- Friday, 10:00AM- 3:00PM)

Job Duties

Perform other general duties as assigned to support daily Champs Dining operations.

Perform light cleaning duties, including cleaning glass doors, routine vehicle cleaning, and maintaining a neat and orderly desk/work area.

Maintain and organize the logo bin and other office supplies or materials.

Perform basic administrative and organizational tasks, including filing, organizing materials, and preparing/sizing paper.

Greet and assist guests as they enter the dining area.

Process customer transactions accurately and provide friendly, professional service.

Physical Requirements

Communicating with others to exchange information.
Lifting and Moving objects up to 50 pounds.
Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

Environmental Hazards
