Department Summary

UNT Health is a 36.9-acre campus located in Fort Worth’s Cultural District with buildings totaling more than 2 million square feet. The Design and Construction team serves as the University’s central resource for planning and delivering campus improvement projects. Partnering with stakeholders across the institution, the team provides project management, budgeting, scheduling, and cost estimation services to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and within budget while meeting the needs of the campus community.

Position Overview

This Project Manager is responsible for the coordination of schedules and specifications associated with building construction and equipment sourcing; will perform tasks related to the collection of cost data required to monitor project budget estimates. The Project Manager obtains, evaluates, coordinates, and distributes the information and authorizations necessary to construct the project on time, within budget, and to the quality specified. Responsible to protect and promote the University.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field and five (5) years of related experience in the construction industry; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and they must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Experience managing medium to large construction projects.
• Experience working in construction for a public education institution and/or commercial setting.
• Knowledge of building codes, construction documents and construction safety standards.
• Proficiency in specific software may be required.
• Knowledge of appropriate safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.

Job Duties

• Prepares budget estimates / ROMs 
• Oversee that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals and procedures.
• Oversee that the project is constructed and documented in accordance with the contract documents and good engineering practices.
• Ensure inspections are performed and documented.
• Provide technical support and be responsible for developing and maintaining project cost/change controls, project budget, and accounting records.
• Coordinate and monitor schedule updates, invoices, and submittals. 
• Assist in managing and reviewing the progress of contractors' construction schedules.
• Review weekly and monthly reports on the status and progress of the contracts, including project costs and potential changes.
• The project manager will meet regularly with all of the parties involved, including the contractors and client, to provide status updates and answer questions. 
• Review the completeness of construction documents and specifications - missing details or unmarked assumptions that can lead to scope gaps and change orders. 
• Provides on-the-job training and guidance to new team members. Serves as a team lead by coordinating workflow, sharing expertise, and mentoring junior staff, while not holding formal supervisory responsibilities.
