The Financial Aid Systems Specialist is responsible for maintaining highly expert level policy and process knowledge of federal, state, institutional, and external financial aid programs. The position facilitates the development of new financial aid processes and the continued enhancement of existing processes.

Essential duties:

  • Functions as the senior knowledge resource for the Financial Aid Processing, System, and Support teams.
  • Maintains highly expert level knowledge of administrative software tools, inclusive of ticketing systems, project management systems, internal aid processing systems, and federal processing systems.
  • Maintains and executes daily/cyclical system batch jobs (i.e. federal import/exports).
  • Assists in troubleshooting problems by developing and implementing solutions to resolve issues.
  • Establishes administrative processes supporting the effective and efficient administration of student aid programs.
  • Coordinates an office wide training program to address the needs of all staff, to include but not limited to federal program regulations, institutional policies, state regulations, and general system training.
  • Contributes significantly to the development and maintenance of the office’s Policy & Procedure documents.
  • Analyzes financial aid statistics and management reports to identify office needs and areas for improvement.
  • Assists the Director with the annual financial aid audit.
  • Acts as the point of contact for the department during any temporary absences of the Assistant Director.  

Qualifications:

  • 5 + years of experience in the administration of financial aid programs

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written communication
  • Strong organization and interpersonal skills, inclusive of the ability to develop and maintain professional, positive negotiating relationships
  • Attention to detail with the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to independently identify department needs/goals with little supervision while exercising good judgement and maintaining confidentiality
