The Staff Counselor provides clinical counseling services to students, which includes individual counseling, group counseling, assessment, consultation, and crisis intervention. This role also provides psychoeducational services to students including workshops and seminars as well as occasional training opportunities for university faculty and staff. The Staff Counselor will also provide on-call support as needed.

Essential duties:

  • Provide assessment, counseling, and case management for Regent students.
  • Develop and present psychoeducational groups to address student needs.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and clinical files for all client services.
  • Provide crisis consultation and intervention services.
  • Participate in orientation, student organization, and university events as a representative of student services.
  • Provide after-hours on-call services.
  • Assist in clinical supervision of student clinicians.
  • Participate in individual and group supervision.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in counseling or counseling psychology required
  • Must be able to register with the Virginia Board of Counseling as a "Resident in Counseling" and complete said registration within four months of beginning employment
  • Preferred Qualifications: Virginia license (professional counselor); experience counseling in a college setting
