Package Range: $104,403  - $123,816. Package includes salary ($92,396-$109,576) employer's superannuation and annual leave loading (paid pro rata)

About the role

We are seeking a world-class educator to inspire the next generation of Aboriginal Language students by joining our team of teachers on a permanent part-time (0.5 FTE-17.5 hours) per week basis located at Walgett Campus.

In this role you will deliver educational programs and facilitate learning, enabling students to achieve their desired outcomes. Proudly teach and share the Aboriginal Language (Gamilaraay) in oral and written forms, underpinned by knowledge of Culture. Lead students through conversations, greetings and build their confidence following instructions and asking questions in the Gamilaraay language.

Essential Requirements:

  • Aboriginality
  • Have appropriate subject knowledge, skills and vocational qualifications with a minimum level of Certificate III in Aboriginal Languages or a higher qualification in Aboriginal Languages/s (Gamilaraay) or equivalent.
  • Evidence of holding the appropriate teaching qualifications to deliver Vocational Education and Training (see the candidate support document (here) for details ) OR a willingness to undertake our full time 14 week 'Paid to Learn' course
  • Have a minimum of three (3) years post qualification experience of teaching an Aboriginal language (Gamilaraay) in the Community or school system. 

 Applicants for this position must be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, identify as being Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, and be accepted in the community as such. An applicant's race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14(d) of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants will be required to provide Confirmation of Aboriginality documentation with their application. 

Paid to Learn: for candidates who do not hold an appropriate VET teaching qualification or equivalent, you have the option to be paid to learn as you transition from industry to teaching with guaranteed work following successful completion of the 14 weeks Training and Assessment course.  Those who already hold the appropriate teaching qualification or equivalent are still eligible to apply.
