About the role

The Media, Arts, Design, and Entertainment team at the Coffs Harbour campus is seeking a creative and motivated individual with current industry knowledge and experience in Design to join them as an Education Support Officer on a permanent part-time basis.

As an Education Support Officer, your main responsibility will be to support learners within the classroom environment, enhancing their learning experience. You will focus on ensuring positive student outcomes by providing tailored assistance to a diverse range of students.

While a teaching qualification is not required, a passion for education and a commitment to supporting TAFE NSW students are essential. Your role will involve creating a conducive learning environment and assisting both students and teachers in achieving their educational goals.

As an Education Support Officer you will be responsible for:

  • Providing support to students to carry out tasks and understand their learning materials and concepts
  • Following up with students to encourage ongoing engagement and motivate and encourage the students to complete their tasks and activities
  • Supplement the teaching activities by providing follow-up instruction as provided by the teacher and opportunities to practice skills
  • Supporting the Teachers and Head Teachers in meeting compliance functions for TAFE NSW

To be considered for this role you need to meet the following essential requirements:

  • Have appropriate subject knowledge, skills and vocational qualifications, including;
    • Hold a Certificate III in any Creative Design industry.
  • Ability to understand the content of the learning materials and the processes used in the discipline.
  • High-level interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to be proactive and show initiative and ability to explain ideas in a clear and concise manner.
  • Commitment and ability to support learning in an adult environment and a demonstrated ability to motivate and encourage students.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with people from a diverse range of backgrounds and to provide quality customer service as part of a broader team.
  • Skills in the use of relevant information and communication technologies.

Highly regarded:

  • Experience with both MACs and PCs
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and/or ProTools
