About the role
The Director Finance Systems is a senior finance leadership position and the primary interface between the Finance function and the Systems/IT teams at TAFE NSW. This role is responsible for ensuring that finance processes and reporting are fully enabled and supported by our finance systems. It is not a technical developer role – instead, the focus is on providing finance leadership, system governance, and strategic oversight of how finance systems are used to deliver high quality financial reporting, advice and corporate governance.
You will lead the creation and delivery of the Finance Systems Roadmap, ensuring reliability, data integrity, and compliance with Australian Accounting Standards, NSW legislation, and Treasury requirements. A key part of this role is setting and maintaining the Finance Business Intelligence strategy and driving system-enabled process improvements to support organisational performance, efficiency, and decision-making.
As a senior leader, you will provide strategic advice to the CFO and executives, engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure best practice, and lead a high-performing team committed to integrity, collaboration, excellence, and customer-first service.
About You
You are an experienced senior finance professional with strong technical and leadership expertise in finance systems. With degree qualifications in accounting or finance and membership of a recognised professional accounting body, you bring a proven track record in overseeing complex financial systems and driving enhancements that deliver business value.
You excel in strategic leadership and stakeholder engagement, particularly in environments with competing priorities and evolving system landscapes. Your ability to partner with technology teams, regulators, and government stakeholders enables you to support the requirements gathering, design and implementation of practical and sustainable solutions.
As a values-based, inclusive and collaborative leader, you inspire direction and purpose, build organisational capability, and foster a customer-focused, solutions-oriented culture. With advanced skills across finance, project management, technology, and governance, you will play a critical role in strengthening TAFE NSW’s financial systems to support its strategic priorities.
