About the role
As an Education Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting students across a broad range of disciplines in an online learning environment. Working closely with teaching staff, you will provide general academic support to help students stay engaged, build confidence and successfully progress through their studies. You will interact with students from diverse courses, adapting quickly to different subject areas, and provide guidance through a variety of channels including online platforms, email and virtual sessions to enhance the learning experience.
About you
You are a confident and adaptable communicator who enjoys supporting adult learners from diverse backgrounds. With strong interpersonal skills, you can explain concepts clearly, motivate students and build effective working relationships. You are comfortable using Microsoft Office applications, including MS Teams, and are willing to learn new systems or platforms to support student needs. You bring resilience, initiative and the ability to think on your feet, particularly when working across varied subject areas.
To be successful in this role you will hold:
- Appropriate subject knowledge, skills and vocational qualifications at Certificate III or higher.
- Ability to understand the content of the learning materials and the processes used in the discipline.
- High-level interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to be proactive and show initiative and ability to explain ideas in a clear and concise manner.
- Commitment and ability to support learning in an adult environment and a demonstrated ability to motivate and encourage students.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with people from a diverse range of backgrounds and to provide quality customer service as part of a broader team.
- Skills in the use of relevant information and communication technologies.
Highly Regarded
- Demonstrated experience in learning management systems.
- Demonstrated experience in student support or self-paced online study.
