About the role

As a Teacher of Conservation & Ecosystem Management, you will deliver high-quality training through a blend of online and face-to-face learning, helping students develop the skills and knowledge required for employment in the conservation and land management sector. Delivery is predominantly online, from Strathfield Campus, supplemented by practical workshops, requiring you to confidently engage students in virtual environments while bringing industry experience to life through hands-on learning activities. The role supports flexible, self-paced student cohorts, meaning you will provide individualised guidance and responsive support to learners commencing at different stages throughout the year. The role aligns with TAFE NSW's commitment to flexible educational delivery and student success.

You'll join a collaborative and diverse team of professionals who bring a broad range of industry experience and qualifications. Working in a positive and supportive environment, you will contribute to the delivery of Conservation & Ecosystem Management programs while also having the opportunity to teach in Agriculture and/or Horticulture where required. This is an exciting opportunity to share your expertise, support student outcomes and help shape the future workforce for the environmental and land management industries.

About You

You are a digitally confident industry professional with the ability to deliver engaging online learning experiences and build meaningful connections with students in virtual environments.  You bring current, hands-on industry experience and can confidently demonstrate practical techniques during workshops and field-based activities. You understand how to support adult learners studying independently and can adapt your approach to meet the needs of students progressing through a flexible, anytime enrolment model. Strong communication skills, a student-centred mindset and a commitment to providing excellent learner support are essential.

To be successful in the role, you will:

1. Hold appropriate subject knowledge and skills, and at minimum hold a Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystems Management, or higher. 
2. Have a minimum of three years post-qualification industry experience relevant to your qualifications, gained no longer than five years previously.
3. Hold evidence of the required teaching qualification to deliver Vocational Education and Training (VET). See the candidate support document here for details.
4. Be prepared to develop and maintain your VET knowledge and skills as well as your industry currency, and trainer/assessor competence.

Qualifications in Agriculture and/or Horticulture will be highly regarded. A current driver's licence is desirable, as the role may require travel across the Sydney region to deliver practical training and workshops.
