About the role
In this role you will administer our employee technical training programs as we seek to develop our national staff in a range of areas including mining, maintenance and processing. You will ensure that these programs meet K92 Mining standards and external training accreditation where necessary.
Key Accountabilities
Key accountabilities of this position include.
- Develop and maintain training needs analysis, training plans, succession plans as well as the Apprenticeship and Cadet Traineeship programs!
- Administer the administration of the Technical training programs including, Apprentice Program, Pre-Vocational Program, Technical Training Scholarships, In Plant Training and NATTB Trade Testing Program.
- Create Individual Development Plans (IDP) which document on and off the job training as well as work experience required to achieve career goals.
- Liaise with statutory bodies and external stakeholders regarding professional membership as they impact with the registration’s procedures for fellow K92 member employees.
- Provide progress reports and information in meetings and written reports on a weekly basis or as directed.
- Do reviews and edit the Apprentice Program Policies, Technical Scholarships Program to be in line with K92 `s business plans.
- Assist to market the available training opportunities to employees and providing necessary information via training Calendars pamphlets and brochures.
- Assist or relieve as required in all other professional areas of the HR section.
- Evaluate and continuously improve training packages including trainer manuals and course materials.
- Delivers work within approved budget managing any variances in accordance with escalation process.
- Actively seeks cost reduction opportunities in all business relating to Training and Development.
- Deliver training programs to K92 employees in accordance with training outcomes and agreed objectives including:
- Personal Effectiveness Programs including delivering professional development programs as required by the business including, but not limited to, team skills (e.g., time management; dealing with change; managing conflict) and specialist skills (e.g., writing and presentation skills)
- Leadership and Supervisory Development Programs including developing and delivering targeted leadership effectiveness programs such as performance planning, coaching for performance, safety leadership and time management for supervisors; and delivering K92 programs for the front-line manager and superintendents.
- Actively promotes a safe and healthy culture.
- Demonstrates personal responsibility for own health and safety whilst setting clear expectations of relevant legal obligations, safe workplace practices and HSE operating practices to others, holding them accountable for their actions.
- Perform general housekeeping within and around responsible work area.
- Conduct weekly meetings with the Coordinator Training and Development to review previous work and identify emerging issues and work.
- Undertake required administrative tasks ensuring all documentation used in, and arising from, training and delivery and assessment is created, and maintained stored in accordance with K92`s accreditation and legal requirements.
- Comply with K92`s quality and contractual requirements as well as relevant legislation.
About You
To be considered for this role, it is essential that you
- Possess an appropriate tertiary qualification or experience in a Training & Development position in the PNG mining or an associated resource industry
- Certificate Stage IV in Training and Assessment
- Sound practical skill in designing and reviewing competency-based training systems and experience with training packages.
- Demonstrated ability to reinforce and develop training methods by being responsible for providing advice on and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
- Sound computer literacy skills including operational efficiency in the Microsoft Suite, and industry-based programs such as PRONTO or similar programs.
- PNG Driver`s Licence -Class 6 essential
- Level 3 Accreditation from National Apprentice Trade Testing Board (NATTB)
- Experience in providing training and development advice to managers, superintendents, and supervisors preferably in metals extraction and mining operations.
- Computer Proficiency in MS Office suite.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, particularly in presentations and facilitation.
- An effective coach and mentor for industrial students, scholarship holders, apprentice, and graduates.
- Self-motivated with ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
- Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution & training.
