About the role
In this role you will report to the Superintendent - Processing and oversee process plant operations whist collaboratively working with the wider processing team to ensure the efficient, safe, and continuous operation of the Process Plant including the Mill and the Laboratory in achieving production targets. In addition, maintaining high work standards in accordance with government regulations and K92 Mining policy.
Key / Major Accountabilities
Key accountabilities of this position include.
- Monitor, audit and optimize plant metallurgical performance.
- Provide technical support, training and guidance to technical staff and operation crews.
- Complete regular metallurgical accounting and reporting.
- Ensuring the processing plant is operated to meet production targets.
- Developing innovative solutions to both medium and long-term projects integral to the process plant.
- Lead and report on studies relevant to production improvement, cost saving initiatives and project development.
- Work in collaboration with Processing Manager or designate to ensure that the entire ore processing operation meets environmental regulations/standards.
- Preparing process plant scope documents.
- Assist the Processing Manager in cost budget preparation and forecasts.
- Regular liaison with engineering and technical staff. This includes maintaining open dialogue and teamwork between Maintenance, Operations and Environmental departments.
- Oversee weekly report and prepare and compile monthly reports to management team as required.
- Review incidents and ensure learnings are communicated and implemented.
- Perform all other tasks relating and as directed by the Process Manager.
- Maintain safe work standards and practices in accordance with government and company policy
About You
To be considered for this role, it is essential you will have some or all the following.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing or Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum of (10) years’ experience working in a Mineral Processing Plant.
- Sulphide Mineral Flotation experience, crushing and grinding experience.
- Sound knowledge of Mining industry Safety, Environmental and Operational Practices in an underground mine.
- Sound knowledge of Mill Control systems
- Ability to diagnose fault with equipment and processes within the Operations area.
- Able to lead, provide training and coaching to staff within the processing department.
- Strong planning and analytical skills.
- A team player with good computer skills.
- Able to communicate effectively across all levels.
- Class three (3) driver’s license.
- Ability to train process plant personnel in all aspects of their trade – particularly in diagnosis and fault finding, quality control, thoroughness and record keeping.
- Must be a self-starter, and very resourceful, with the ability to find solutions to problems to ensure the equipment availability is high.
