The Opportunity

As a committed educator, you will deliver high-quality teaching that fosters an engaging and inclusive learning environment. Your expertise will inspire and challenge students, helping them develop the skills and knowledge needed to succeed both academically and professionally. In addition to your teaching responsibilities, you will actively contribute to research initiatives within your field. Your research efforts will be supported and encouraged, with the goal of making valuable contributions to the field of counselling and beyond.

You will:

  • play a pivotal role in supporting the development and implementation of comprehensive counselling education programs;
  • combine clinical expertise with educational leadership to equip aspiring counsellors with the values, theories, knowledge, skills and ethical foundation necessary for successful practice in the field;
  • be responsible for sourcing, managing and supervising counselling placements to provide students with the opportunity to apply reflective and theoretical learning with a 'learner-centred' educational emphasis; and
  • coordinate counselling courses and deliver related tutorials on campus.

About you:

You have extensive experience in facilitating, consulting, influencing and building credibility within a clinical environment. You are willing to share your expertise to contribute to the ongoing success of our clinical placements program and thrive on building links between our institution, industry partners and the broader community. By leveraging your expertise, you foster valuable connections that not only benefit our students but also contribute positively to our local and global communities.

You will possess:

  • completion or near-completion of a master’s qualification in a relevant field or equivalent accreditation and standing;
  • effectiveness of a teacher evidenced by the capacity to conceive, develop and deliver higher education curricula and contribute to relevant areas of teaching;
  • membership of, and sound connections with relevant professional bodies, community groups and in professional practice; and
  • evidence of participation in academic development activities and the desire to continue to learn and improve as an effective academic.

Desirable:

  • evidence of quality clinical education of students in various forms: including simulated, telehealth, external and internal placements.
  • experience undertaking academic administrative functions, such as course coordination, within a university.
