The Opportunity

We're looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to help shape the University’s financial sustainability and strategic direction. In this senior role, you’ll deliver high-level financial planning, modelling, forecasting and analysis to inform executive decisions and evaluate new opportunities. You'll work closely with teams across the University to improve financial literacy, support compliance, and embed strong financial governance. With a focus on insight-driven reporting and scenario modelling, your work will support investment decisions and continuous improvement. This is your chance to make a meaningful impact in a progressive university environment that values collaboration, accountability and integrity.

You will

  • use your modelling skills and financial insight to deliver forecasts and analysis that shape smart, strategic decisions aligned with UniSC’s priorities;
  • partner with teams across the University to provide clear, expert advice that supports bold ideas, business planning and long-term thinking; and
  • help build a confident, financially capable UniSC by championing accurate reporting, promoting compliance, and uplifting financial know-how across our community.

About you

You're someone who sees the big picture and knows how to bring it to life through sharp analysis, thoughtful advice and smart financial modelling. Our ideal candidate is curious, collaborative and confident in their ability to turn complex data into clear insights that shape big decisions. You're just as comfortable building models as you are building relationships, working side by side with colleagues to lift financial literacy, guide strategic planning and drive meaningful change. You bring a sharp eye for detail, a steady focus on integrity and governance and a genuine commitment to making things better. If you're excited by the idea of influencing decisions that shape the future of a university and community, we’d love to hear from you.

You will possess:

  • Expertise in financial analysis, reporting, cost modelling and scenario analysis within a complex environment.
  • A proven ability to tackle complex strategic challenges using innovative and thoughtful problem-solving to drive strong outcomes, sound decisions and positive change.
  • A talent for building and maintaining collaborative relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial awareness, negotiation skills and the ability to identify opportunities and navigate complex business environments.
  • Professional experience preparing financial reports and analysing complex data with clarity and confidence for senior leaders.
  • A consistent track record of delivering high-quality work on time and to a high standard.
  • Sharp business acumen, attention to detail, and creative problem-solving skills, paired with the ability to influence effectively.
  • High-level skills with financial software and Excel to support accurate and insightful analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including senior executives.
  • A collaborative approach to working with colleagues and external partners to maximise performance and impact.

Desirable

  • Practical knowledge of university operations, systems and funding, with experience working in higher education settings.
  • Membership of the Australian Society of Certified Practicing Accountants or equivalent professional body.
