- Part-time (60% FTE / 21.75 hours per week), fixed-term appointment for 2 years
The Opportunity
In this dynamic role, you’ll boost the Institute’s research performance and profile by partnering with researchers, teams, and leaders to secure competitive national and international funding. You'll play a key role in diversifying income streams and enabling outstanding research outcomes, working hands-on with researchers to craft compelling grant applications and offering strategic guidance to sharpen their grantsmanship and maximise success.

You will
- Increase the Thomson Institute’s research performance and profile, both nationally and internationally;
- Identify strategically aligned research funding opportunities and partner with researchers, research teams, senior leaders and professional service teams, to leverage these opportunities;
- Build awareness, skill, knowledge and confidence in the TI’s research cohort of the key criteria required to increase successful research grant funding outcomes; and
- Facilitate excellent research outcomes by delivering researcher development strategies.
About you
You're highly organised and thrive in fast-paced environments, with a proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet competing deadlines with ease. Your strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills enable you to tackle challenges with confidence and clarity. Whether working independently or collaboratively across diverse teams, you’re focused on achieving successful, high-quality outcomes and contributing positively to shared goals.
You will possess:
- Completion of a relevant postgraduate qualification or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant knowledge, training, and experience;
- Proven experience in identifying, attracting and administering national and international competitive research funding opportunities;
- Extensive experience in grant proposal development, writing and editing across the diversity of funding sources through government, industry and philanthropy;
- Skilled in the development and delivery of development strategies for researchers to deliver successful research outcomes; and
- Knowledge of financial considerations for budget preparation aligned to research funding applications.
