The Opportunity

Join UniSC as a Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy and play a key role in shaping the future of physiotherapy education and research. Based primarily at our Sippy Downs campus, you’ll lead engaging teaching across undergraduate programs, coordinate courses, and supervise students, while helping to develop an innovative, industry-informed curriculum. You’ll also build and maintain strong clinical partnerships to support work-integrated learning and ensure students are well-prepared for practice. With a research focus aligned to contemporary health priorities, you’ll contribute to the School’s research agenda and supervise honours and postgraduate students in collaboration with industry partners.

You will:

  • shape innovative physiotherapy education through curriculum design, teaching leadership, and mentoring, with recognition for excellence in learning and teaching;
  • deliver impactful research, secure grants, publish widely, and mentor future researchers to drive real-world healthcare solutions;
  • contribute to governance, strategy, and initiatives that enhance the School and University; and
  • build partnerships, collaborate on real-world projects, and create opportunities that benefit students and society.

About you

You're driven by a passion for advancing physiotherapy education, bringing fresh ideas, real-world relevance, and research-informed teaching to your work. You excel at creating dynamic learning environments, mentoring future healthcare leaders, and translating evidence into practice. Committed to impactful research, you publish with purpose and lead meaningful projects that influence the field. Beyond the classroom, you build strong industry and community connections, opening doors for students and delivering benefits beyond the university. Collaborative and inclusive, you lead by example and thrive in a team that values innovation, impact, and connection.

You will possess:

  • Unrestricted current registration to practice physiotherapy in Australia;
  • A minimum of 5 years of full-time clinical experience as a physiotherapist and musculoskeletal, sports and orthopaedics expertise (or part time equivalent);
  • Completion or near-completion of a doctoral qualification in a relevant field or equivalent accreditation and standing;
  • Evidence of research experience, including for example, refereed publications; participation in research teams; co-supervision of candidates for honours and higher degrees by research;
  • Membership of and sound connections with relevant professional bodies and community groups and/or in professional practice;
  • Evidence of participation in relevant academic and professional development activities and the desire to continue to learn and improve as an effective academic and physiotherapy clinician; and
  • Experience undertaking academic leadership roles and administration functions (e.g. course coordination) within a university.

Desirable

  • Postgraduate coursework qualifications in urgent care, emergency, orthopaedics, musculoskeletal or sports physiotherapy.
  • Experience working as a physiotherapist in orthopaedics, emergency and rehabilitation (inpatient and outpatient).
  • Experience working as physiotherapist with sports teams and sports trainers in private practice and the community.
  • Experience as a physiotherapy clinical educator/supervisor within musculoskeletal, sports, or orthopaedic.
