The Opportunity

As Senior Lead, Data Governance, you’ll guide the delivery of privacy and data governance services across the university, helping teams make confident, responsible decisions with the data they rely on every day. You’ll be part of a highly skilled, future-focused Insights and Analytics Unit that works across academic, research and corporate areas to govern, protect and unlock the value of data and records. This is your chance to uplift systems, practices and awareness in privacy, cybersecurity, records management and data governance, laying strong foundations for a more informed, efficient and connected future.

You will

  • lead and evolve best practice in privacy, data governance and records management across the university, ensuring compliance and driving meaningful use of data;
  • build capability and awareness through programs that embed strong data and privacy practices into everyday decision making; and
  • provide expert advice and leadership, including acting as UniSC’s delegated decision maker for information access, while guiding a high-performing team and contributing to university-wide initiatives.

About you

You are someone who sees the bigger picture when it comes to data, not just how it is managed, but how it empowers people, protects privacy and drives progress. You bring deep expertise in privacy, records and data governance, and you are ready to lead with purpose, shaping strategy while keeping the day to day running smoothly. You know how to work across a complex organisation, building trusted relationships with peers and stakeholders to bring smart, practical solutions to life. You are curious, collaborative and forward thinking, someone who thrives on lifting capability, guiding a talented team and turning compliance into opportunity. If you are excited by the idea of helping a university make smarter, safer, more connected decisions, we would love to hear from you.

You will possess:

  • Proven leadership experience with a talent for guiding change, building strong teams and fostering a collaborative, future focused environment
  • Confident communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to share complex ideas clearly, influence outcomes and connect with people across the university
  • A strong understanding of risk and compliance, with the ability to design and oversee controls that support responsible, informed decision making
  • Well developed organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities, contribute to complex projects and improve systems and practices to meet deadlines
  • Expertise in shaping and delivering policy and strategy in privacy, data governance and related areas, with a drive to support contemporary, practical solutions
  • A sound understanding of legislative and regulatory obligations and how they apply within a higher education setting
