This is a unique chance to join the University of the Sunshine Coast as Professor of Engineering and Discipline Lead, to help shape the future of our growing Engineering Discipline. You will lead and inspire across teaching, research, and course development, guiding undergraduate and postgraduate students in Civil, Electrical and Electronics, Mechanical, and Mechatronics Engineering. Beyond the classroom, you’ll mentor academics, foster industry partnerships, and drive research that makes a real impact. You will:

  • lead internationally recognised research that makes a real-world impact, securing grants, managing projects, and mentoring researchers and higher degree candidates;
  • inspire and guide teaching and curriculum development that engages students and supports academic staff, while contributing to national and international scholarship;
  • build meaningful partnerships and collaborations that enhance the University’s reputation and deliver lasting social, cultural, and economic benefits; and
  • shape the strategic direction and growth of the School and University, fostering collegiality, excellence, and a culture of innovation.

You bring creativity and rigour to teaching, designing innovative learning experiences that engage and empower students, while contributing to scholarly practice in your discipline. You value collaboration and partnerships, both within the University and with communities, industry, and international peers, and use these connections to create meaningful impact. You’re committed to lifting standards, shaping strategic priorities, and helping build a positive, inclusive, and high-performing academic environment where staff and students can thrive.

You will possess:

  • A doctoral qualification in a relevant field and extensive experience as an academic leader.
  • Proven leadership experience at a Faculty, School, or Discipline level.
  • A track record of shaping your discipline/field and making a recognised impact.
  • A clear and coherent research program with sustained, high-quality outputs, external recognition, and demonstrated impact, including supervising Higher Degree by Research candidates.
  • Strong research leadership, mentoring mid- and early-career researchers, strengthening research culture, and contributing to national and international discipline panels.
  • Excellence in teaching, including leading curriculum design and development, embedding research-led approaches, and contributing to teaching innovation that engages and supports students.
  • Leadership and personal qualities that foster a positive, inclusive academic environment with high engagement and achievement for staff and students.
  • Experience in academic administration, such as course or program coordination.
  • Ability to build and maintain productive regional, national, and international partnerships that benefit the University.

  • Postgraduate qualifications in higher education
