The Opportunity

Marketing and Communications (M&C) plays a pivotal role in advancing UniSC’s strategic goals by delivering integrated marketing and communication strategies that grow enrolments, strengthen reputation, and enhance engagement across the University community. Operating in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment, our five specialist teams (Events & Partnerships, Strategic Communications, Marketing Strategy & Services, Future Students, and Digital Marketing) work together to ensure clear, consistent and impactful communication that supports institutional priorities.

As Internal Communication Specialist, you will lead the development and delivery of strategic internal communications that connect staff to UniSC’s vision and priorities. Reporting to the Associate Director, Strategic Communications, you will design and implement high-quality communication programs that inform, engage and inspire staff across the University. From executive messaging and institutional change initiatives to intranet content and staff newsletters, you will combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery to strengthen culture, alignment and engagement across all UniSC portfolios.

You will

  • lead and deliver whole-of-university internal communication initiatives aligned to UniSC’s strategic priorities, including executive messaging, change communications and major institutional projects;
  • oversee the planning, creation and publication of staff communications, including MyUniSC (intranet) news and the Staff Newsletter, ensuring content is timely, engaging and aligned with Marketing and Communications standards; and
  • provide expert strategic advice to stakeholders across the University, developing annual communication plans and engagement activities that strengthen staff connection, culture and organisational alignment.

About you

You are a strategic and highly organised communications professional who understands how effective internal communication strengthens culture and drives engagement. You bring experience working within a large or complex organisation and are confident partnering with senior stakeholders to shape messaging and navigate change.

An exceptional writer and editor, you communicate with clarity and precision across multiple channels. You are solutions-focused, adaptable and comfortable managing competing priorities in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.

You will possess:

  • A relevant degree in communication, marketing or related discipline, with subsequent relevant experience (or equivalent industry experience and training).
  • Demonstrated experience delivering internal communications programs within a large, complex organisation.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, engaging and strategically aligned messaging.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and client management capability, including the ability to manage sensitive issues and deliver positive outcomes.
  • Highly developed organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects.
  • Experience using Microsoft 365 tools including SharePoint and Viva Engage (desirable).
  • Knowledge of the Australian higher education sector (desirable)
