Job Summary $68,611 - $107,562 / DOQ + Full-Time County Benefits Performs experienced work providing vital community services in the provision of social service programs, which may include children’s services, foster care, adoption, senior services and/or employment services within agency policies, objectives, and professional standards. This position will serve as the Family Services Supervisor for the Permanency Unit |
Responsibilities • Provides effective supervision of assigned staff including selection, performance management, employee relations, training, prioritizing and assigning work and related activities. |
Qualifications: • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in the human services field or Bachelor’s degree in any field with a minimum of two years of appropriate and related experience in a Human Services area (Section 22VAC40-670-20 of the Administrative Code of Virginia). Considerable experience in assigned program area/human service program; supervisory experience or work experience in a leadership role; Master’s degree preferred. • Must possess or obtain within 30 days of hire a valid Virginia driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record based on James City County’s criteria. • Knowledge of social work principles and practices including federal, state and local regulations affecting human service programs; programs, social economic trends and behaviors that impact the delivery of human services; case management techniques, principles and practices to evaluate and coordinate the delivery of public assistance to customers and their families; leadership techniques, principles and procedures to assign work, schedule, supervise, train and evaluate the work of assigned staff; principles and processes for providing customer service. This includes setting and meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. • Skill in use of computer software, especially Microsoft Office Suite. • Ability to establish and implement effective administrative programs and procedures; establish priorities for the completion of work in accordance with sound time-management methodology; handle a variety of human services issues with tact and diplomacy in a confidential manner; express ideas concisely orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, other County officials and the public. |
