Salary Information: This is a full-time, tenure track position with an entry level base salary (for a 175-day academic year contract) of $77,027 - $108,630 annually. Future advancement in base salary, up to the current maximum of $108,630, is based upon a combination of years of service accrued at our college and professional development activity.
Annual salary is comprised of base salary plus any combination of academic year overload contracts, summer effort contracts, project stipends, student club advising stipends, and/or department chair program lead faculty stipends consistent with the provisions of the current collective bargaining agreement between Spokane Colleges and the Association for Higher Education (AHE).

Spokane Community College, part of Spokane Colleges, serves 15,000 students with career technical, liberal arts, and adult education programs in Spokane and surrounding rural communities.
The Automotive Collision and Refinishing Technician program teaches the skills necessary to succeed in the automotive collision repair industry. Instruction is primarily in a shop situation where field conditions are simulated. Students are able to learn by demonstration and direct hands on experience.
Students are instructed in a wide range of skills, including welding, sheet metal repair and replacement, body filler, plastic repair, frame and unibody repair, CCC one estimating, computer measuring of frame and unibody as well as repair and replacement of structural components.
The refinishing portion of our program provides students with a comprehensive education in modern refinishing techniques and materials, as well as material and damage estimation. Students will learn all phases of substrate preparation, color matching and application of the latest paint materials including water born products.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares for and instructs through traditional classroom, laboratory, clinical and distance education modes in the discipline of Automotive Collision Repair and refinishing. Traditional auto body processes, advanced technologies/processes, quality control, computer generated estimation, and use of sheet metal shaping for vintage vehicle restoration applications. Assignments may be at off-campus centers and may also include evening and/or weekend classes.
- Provides availability and accessibility to students for purpose of academic consulting and support, in a manner appropriate to meet student needs, through a combination of scheduled office hours, e-mail accessibility or other effective means of responsive and timely communication; Communicates expectations and establishes clear grading criteria through appropriate instructional means, to include but not limited to developing course syllabi, handouts, and materials supporting the instructional process; evaluates student progress and provides clear, timely feedback.
- Participates in district, division, department, or general faculty meetings; in-service training; curriculum development; academic consulting; workshops or seminars; service on district or college councils or committees, or other activities within the scope of the position.
- Complies with state and federal law applicable to professional duties and responsibilities.
- Follows established procedures in areas such as printing, turning in grades, bookstore orders, office support, student financial aid requirements, safety and health issues and related administrative processes.
- In addition, faculty may:
- Instruct courses in related disciplines based upon individual qualifications and expertise.
- Supervise paraprofessional employees or direct the work of assigned work-study students.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Training and/or education in the Automotive Collision industry, as evidenced through a documented record of training programs completed, plus eight years of work experience in the field of Auto Collision Repair.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- An Associate's degree in Automotive Collision Repair or closely related field from an
- accredited institution.
- 8+ years of work experience in Automotive Collision Repair.
- Relevant teaching and/or training experience.
- Recent experience in computer generated estimating for Auto Collision.
- Current I-CAR certification.
- Experience in body repair, body filler, minor and major repair and frame repair.
