      The Ordinance Enforcement Officer II is to oversee the operations of the Ordinance Enforcement Division under the supervision of the Public Health Director and Assistant Public Health Director. Under administrative direction, the purpose of the position is to supervise inspection work enforcing ordinances and related regulatory requirements for the general public and business entities within the City of Brownsville. Review complaints and assist subordinates in developing recommendations to resolve any complaints concerning violations. Position provides support and/or assistance to employees, the general public and property owners, as necessary. This class works within a general outline of work to be performed; develops work methods and sequences under general supervision.

      Under general supervision of the City Manager, this position will perform a variety of community and economic development activities and administrative duties. The Community Development Manager is responsible for recruiting new retail and retention strategies for current businesses (in collaboration with other entities) in the City of Brownsville. The Community Development Manager will represent the City of Brownsville as a liaison with local and regional economic development entities, including ICSC, Type A and Type B economic development corporations. This position will provide support to ensure successful implementation of the Downtown Renaissance Master Plan, Housing Plan, and other plans developed to help promote community and economic development for the City of Brownsville.
