The Work Health Safety Manager position provides a best practice and strategic WHS approach to JCV’s Executive and line managers to deliver effective WHS management and manage risk. The key focus for the role centres around identifying, monitoring and addressing critical risks to develop and implement a WHS framework that supports and underpins day to day activities across JCV’s business. This is a full-time position based in our Head Office on St Kilda Road, with hybrid working arrangements.
You will be a great fit if you have:
- Experience developing, reviewing, and implementing WHS policies, procedures, and systems to ensure a safe working environment for all employees, volunteers, and stakeholders.
- Conducting regular risk assessments, identify potential hazards, and implement effective controls and mitigation strategies.
- Experience investigating incidents, accidents, and near misses, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Providing expert guidance and training to managers and staff on WHS best practices, regulatory requirements, and emergency preparedness.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure WHS considerations are integrated into all operational aspects.
- Monitoring and reporting on WHS performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Representing Jewish Care Victoria in external WHS forums and maintain effective relationships with regulatory bodies and industry associations.
To succeed in this role, you must possess a tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety or a related field, along with extensive experience in a similar role within the healthcare, aged care, or community services sector. Exceptional communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills are essential, as is a genuine passion for creating a safe and healthy work environment.
