About the role:
The NSW Crime Commission’s purpose is to disrupt, reduce and prevent the incidence of organised and other serious crime in New South Wales. The Commission is structured into several divisions, support teams and specialist units.
The Commission’s Legal & Confiscations Division exercises independent professionalism at all times, provides legal services (including legal advice, litigation services and transactional legal work) to the Commission. Significant aspects of the work include conducting litigation; supporting the Commission’s criminal and financial investigations, advising on legal compliance, and preparing and making applications for statutory warrants on behalf of the Commission.
The Legal Administrative Assistant provides administrative and support services to the Director, Legal to facilitate the operation of the Legal team at the NSW Crime Commission.
Key Accountabilities:
- Acting in accordance with Commission values, provide efficient administrative assistance to support the Director, Legal and the operation of the Legal team within the Commission, including administration of the Legal team’s case management system, attending to routine correspondence on behalf of the Director, file management for the Legal team, telephone enquiries, and organising and supporting meetings for the Legal team.
- Complete routine financial transactions and purchasing services, ensuring compliance with Commission standards and procedures.
- Respond to enquiries, and escalate and redirect issues as required, to ensure the provision of accurate information
- Coordinate, schedule and record commitments to assist with the efficient management of team resources
- Update and maintain records and databases, complying with administrative systems and processes, to ensure that all information is accurate, stored correctly and accessible
- Prepare statistical and/or ad hoc reports in accordance with statutory, policy and/or management requirements.
- Electronic calendar management.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience in a legal assistant or similar administrative role.
- Strong professionalism and reliability in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to manage high volumes of enquiries and competing priorities.
- Solid technology skills, including Microsoft Office, legal databases and digital document systems.
- Strong organisational skills with consistent attention to detail.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Security vetting:
You must be an Australian citizen to be eligible to work at the NSW Crime Commission.
The recommended candidates must be willing to participate in and secure appropriate security clearances by providing comprehensive details about their personal and financial interests and other relevant information about themselves, their families and their associates.
The Crime Commission Regulation 2022 under the Crime Commission Act 2012 stipulates that it is a condition of employment at the Commission that a member of staff obtain and maintain:
- a security clearance issued by the Commissioner, and
- a security clearance issued by the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency that the Commissioner determines is necessary for the position.
