About the Role:

We are currently seeking an experienced Transport Supervisor to join our National Linehaul – Central team, based at Wingfield, Adelaide.

 

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Transport Manager, the Transport Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all trip movements originating and terminating at Wingfield. This role plays a critical part in ensuring operational efficiency through proactive scheduling, effective driver coordination and clear communication with internal stakeholders.

A strong focus of the role is ensuring compliance with fatigue management legislation and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements, while maintaining service standards and supporting driver wellbeing.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and schedule all freight movements, providing accurate forecasts and schedules at least three days in advance
  • Develop daily and weekly movement plans in coordination with the Yard Supervisor
  • Allocate prime movers and trailers based on operational needs and equipment availability
  • Provide clear departure schedules aligned with designated departure times
  • Ensure all scanning and manifesting requirements are completed accurately and on time
  • Monitor freight documentation to ensure visibility and compliance
  • Address discrepancies in scanning or manifesting processes
  • Act as the primary point of contact for a cohort of drivers regarding trip-related matters
  • Manage driver rosters in line with fatigue management legislation and CoR requirements
  • Support drivers with queries relating to leave, performance, injury, pay and compliance
  • Provide timely updates and guidance to drivers to support successful trip execution
  • Proactively communicate with internal stakeholders when departure or arrival times may be impacted
  • Escalate service delays or operational issues as required
  • Maintain clear and timely communication with receiving depots and relevant internal teams
  • Participate in weekend work and act as the designated after-hours contact on a rotational roster
  • Ensure continuity of leadership and operational oversight during weekends and after-hours periods, supported by time-off-in-lieu arrangements

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience within the Transport industry will be highly regarded, but not essential
  • Strong planning and scheduling skills
  • Understanding of freight movement processes, including scanning and manifesting
  • Knowledge of fatigue management legislation and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and respond to changing operational conditions
  • Familiarity with transport equipment allocation and depot operations
  • Strong communication skills to effectively manage driver relationships and operational updates
  • Commitment to safety, compliance and service delivery standards
  • Proficiency in transport systems and Microsoft Office
  • Experience supervising, in an operational environment, ideally across multiple routes or regions
  • Proven ability to manage rosters and support workforce performance
  • Exposure to freight scheduling, scanning and manifesting processes
  • Availability to work weekends and participate in after-hours contact rosters
