Department: Pathology 

Chief Purpose of this position: The Lab and Research Specialist is a NIH-grant funded position that will work in a research laboratory focused on the development and testing of pre-clinical models to treat cancer metastasis. 

Duties & Responsibilities: There are two major tasks associated with this position; assist other researchers with cell culture based studies and generation of bioinformatic data. Standard daytime (9AM-5PM) work hours are required with occasional weekend time required.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

• The candidate should have experience working in a scientific research laboratory focusing on cell membrane biology
• The candidate should be proficient in R-studio based software analyses
• The candidate should be highly organized and provide evidence of successfully working in a team environment
• Experience performing cell culture based studies on cancer cells treated with therapeutic compounds
• Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a hourly employee at VCU

Preferred Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline is highly preferred

Salary Range: 15.00 per hour
