The Peace Lab in the Department of Forensic Science, College of Humanities and Sciences at Virginia Commonwealth University, seeks a full-time Research Associate to work on an externally-funded project. Note: This is a restricted position and continued employment is contingent upon the availability of funds.

Typical Duties:

The research associate will be responsible for conducting wet lab experiments, sample preparation, and instrumental analyses, as directed. They will conduct instrument maintenance and provide administrative support, as necessary. This person will also support communications with partnering agencies, data dissemination, manuscript writing and coordinating projects to complete aims in a timely fashion.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field
  • Sample and reagent preparation techniques, instrument maintenance on GCMS, data reduction, safety and chemical hygiene program experience, handling of controlled substances, quality assurance program maintenance, strong communication skills (written and oral), training new staff, RedCap database entry
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a member of VCU

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience on an LC-MSMS, inventory management, ordering and receiving
  • Experience giving public presentations, either poster or platform

Salary Range: $42,500 to $45,000
