The Administrative and Events Assistant will assist in providing day-to-day administrative needs for the Humanities Research Center, as well as support with the center’s in-person and online events. They will work closely with the Director and the Administrative Coordinator on clerical and administrative tasks such as helping with event planning and logistics, scheduling meetings, and maintaining the center’s web and social media presence. Successful candidates will have great communication skills, graphic design, and social media management is a plus.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Answering and directing emails
Managing the center’s calendars
Scheduling meetings and taking detailed minutes
Assisting in event planning and coordination
Assisting with budgetary and fiscal management, procurement, and other program support activities
Writing and creating content for social media and newsletters
Maintaining an organized office and ordering supplies
Assisting HRC staff in communications campaigns/projects, as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Proficiency using Google Apps (Calendar, Forms, Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.)
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Exceptional guest service skills
Great organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills to run successful gatherings.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, liaise with external organizations, and follow up professionally
Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and handle multiple priorities simultaneously
Demonstrated writing and editing abilities
Proven ability to attend to details and meet deadlines
Ability to work in multiple environments
Demonstrated record of dependability and reliability
Preferred Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience
Prior experience as an administrative assistant or executive assistant
Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and/or MailChimp
Experience managing social media platforms and web-based applications
