Advertising Summary: We invite candidates to apply for a 12-month, open rank (faculty) position in the College of Health Professions at Virginia Commonwealth University. The College is seeking a colleague to lead and collaborate in teaching and research, to participate in service to the college and university, and to contribute to leadership in their profession.
The primary responsibilities of this position are to serve as course director and teach human anatomy to health professions students. This position may include teaching responsibilities in neuroanatomy and neuroscience. The faculty member will demonstrate an understanding of interdisciplinary and collaborative teaching. This position will also have scholarship and service expectations.

Department Summary: The College of Health Professions encompasses nine departments and the Center on Aging, in a state-of-the-art building that opened in Fall 2019 on the Medical College of Virginia (MCV) campus. The college offers a number of top programs, as ranked by U.S. News & World Report, and is committed to fostering multiple opportunities for collaborative research and interprofessional education. Research support within the college includes a robust research administration team that addresses pre- and post-award needs and compliance requirements. Biostatistical support is also available.
Duties & Responsibilities:

Teaching: Faculty member will facilitate and teach gross anatomy instruction across multiple health professions, demonstrating expertise in diverse laboratory environments ranging from donor dissection to modern digital and technological platforms, as well as having additional teaching responsibilities consistent with their areas of expertise. Teaching responsibilities also include student advisement, research, and/or mentorship of capstone projects.

Scholarship: Faculty member will engage in scholarly activities to enhance knowledge in their home department, disseminate research findings via scholarly writing and publication, write, publish, and/or present scholarly documents to advance the knowledge base of the home department’s profession, and design and conduct scholarly initiatives, including acquiring grant funding and overseeing research projects.

Service: The faculty member will serve on department, college, and/or university committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications

Master's (MS) in a relevant discipline

As applicable, licensure or eligibility for licensure in their profession in Virginia

Expertise in human anatomical instruction and curriculum development at the undergraduate and/or graduate level, including traditional dissection

Proficiency in anatomical tools and technologies

Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Ability to complement and expand the existing expertise in the College
- An established research agenda and a clear potential for external funding that complements and expands existing expertise in the College for tenure-track faculty candidates

Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications

Clinical doctorate and contemporary experience to teach anatomy to students in graduate-level health professional programs

At least 2 years of teaching and course directorship experience

Academic doctorate (PhD, EdD, DrPH, or DSc) in a relevant field; ABD would be acceptable

Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence using innovative, active, and evidence-based pedagogy and assessment methods

Evidence of career development and growth in the areas of scholarship, teaching, and service

Knowledge of the latest technological advances in anatomical studies
Salary Range: $95,000+ (commensurate with experience and rank)
