The Public Health Data Research Analyst plays a critical role in advancing maternal and infant health outcomes across Virginia through the strategic use of data. This position is ideal for an individual who is passionate about transforming data into meaningful insights, enjoys collaborating with various stakeholders, and wants their work to directly influence quality improvement, public health initiatives, and healthcare outcomes statewide.

Working as part of the VNPC and Department of Pediatrics team and under the supervision of the Data Analyst, the Public Health Data Research Analyst will support multiple federally and state-funded initiatives by leading and coordinating data-related activities that drive program implementation, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement. The successful candidate will work across a varied portfolio of projects funded through HRSA, CDC, and state appropriations, helping design and develop meaningful performance metrics, interpret complex datasets, and communicate findings in ways that support decision-making and measurable improvement.

This position offers a unique opportunity to be involved in the full lifecycle of data management and utilization, from data collection and quality assurance to analysis, visualization, reporting, and stakeholder engagement. The Public Health Data Research Analyst will collaborate with hospitals, healthcare providers, public health agencies, community organizations, and project teams throughout Virginia to ensure data-driven strategies are effectively informing efforts to improve maternal and infant health outcomes.

A key strength of this role is the opportunity to translate data into action. The Public Health Data Research Analyst will develop compelling dashboards, reports, presentations, and visualizations that help stakeholders understand project progress, identify opportunities for improvement, and demonstrate the impact of VNPC initiatives. The ideal candidate is curious, analytical, detail-oriented, and eager to learn. They will thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy working with multidisciplinary teams, and possess the ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. This role offers significant opportunities for professional growth and exposure to maternal and child health, epidemiology, quality improvement science, healthcare analytics, program evaluation, and public health research.
