About this Position

Langston University is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Recruiter to support the enrollment and retention of first-time, transfer, and returning students. This position plays a critical role in the student lifecycle by providing strategic outreach, personalized pre-admission advisement, and ongoing communication with prospective students. The Recruiter will help facilitate a smooth transition for students from inquiry through matriculation and support university-wide recruitment initiatives.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Actively recruit new and returning students through personalized, timely, and accurate pre-admission advisement.

  • Represent Langston University professionally and knowledgeably during one-on-one advising, virtual consultations, and at on- and off-campus events.

  • Build and maintain relationships with high schools, colleges, technical centers, community organizations, and corporate partners to promote enrollment.

  • Plan and implement a wide range of recruitment activities, events, and communication campaigns.

  • Present to prospective students and families to promote Langston University’s programs and student experience.

  • Provide individualized assistance to students with identifying academic goals, program selection, financial aid planning, and degree pathways.

  • Interpret and apply federal, state, and university policies when reviewing academic records, transcripts, and test scores to determine student eligibility.

  • Collaborate with the Director and other recruitment staff on departmental initiatives and student success strategies.

  • Actively participate in staff development programs and university-wide functions.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's
    • From an accredited institution.
    (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
    • At least two years of related experience in a fast-paced customer service or recruitment setting.

    • Demonstrated proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, Access), internet applications, and social media platforms.

    • Familiarity with student information systems such as Banner is a plus.

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel outside of regular business hours.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with a proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines with professionalism and adaptability.

  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed.
