About this Position
The Greenwood School of Music seeks applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Orchestral Studies/Director of the Oklahoma State University Symphony Orchestra with a start date of August 2025. This is a one-year position.
We are seeking a visionary and dynamic leader to shape the future of our growing orchestral program. The successful candidate will conduct the OSU Symphony Orchestra and play a key role in recruiting and mentoring string majors and graduate students in orchestral conducting. This is a unique opportunity to inspire the next generation of musicians while collaborating with an exceptional team of faculty to advance a vibrant and evolving program.
Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and/or graduate courses in conducting, orchestral literature, and pedagogy. Additionally, the candidate will lead the OSU Youth and Community Orchestra, a part of the Greenwood School of Music Preparatory Academy, fostering community engagement and educational outreach.
Other teaching assignments may include general education or specialized courses aligned with the candidate’s expertise. The ideal candidate will contribute actively to the artistic and scholarly life of the university, demonstrate a strong commitment to service within the school and the broader profession, and help cultivate a welcoming environment for all students.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D./Ed.D.
Doctorate or ABD
