About this Position
The Oklahoma Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (OADDL) at Oklahoma State University's College of Veterinary Medicine invites candidates to apply for the Sr. Lab Tech position in the Necropsy/Receiving department. This position is responsible for assisting with daily processing of diagnostic specimens, data entry into the laboratory’s software system, dissection of deceased animals submitted for necropsy, maintenance of clean and safe laboratory spaces, disposal of animal and laboratory biohazardous waste, laundry, cleaning and autoclaving glassware. All other duties as assigned. Regular working hours will be 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday.
OADDL is a full service veterinary medical diagnostic laboratory located on the Oklahoma State University campus. OADDL is a unit of the OSU College of Veterinary Medicine and receives over 25,000 accessions and conducts more than 180,000 tests per year. Submissions to the laboratory come from all of Oklahoma’s 77 counties and over 40 states. The operating expenses are covered by state appropriations and fees charged for services.
Required Qualifications
- High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)

Two years related experience – serving and interacting with the public and successfully managing daily workload responsibilities. Vocational/technical or post-secondary education may be substituted in lieu of experience.
- Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses: Valid driver's license is required.
- Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge: Must be able to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with veterinarians, animal owners and co-workers. Must provide excellent customer service and follow laboratory procedures. Dependable, courteous, conscientious team player with attention to detail and problem solving skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School/GED
- Four years experience in an animal diagnostic laboratory setting or some type of related laboratory setting.
- Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
General knowledge of mammalian anatomy and ability to recognize major organs and tissues is preferred.
