About this Position
Fire Protection Publications is a mission-driven, values-based organization dedicated to the production of high-quality educational content for the international community of firefighters and first responders. The person in this role will be responsible for duties pertaining to relationship management and sales for Fire Protection Publications.
Extensive travel is required for this position. Frequent night and weekend work including overnight travel will be required based on customer and organizational needs. Flexible office hours may be required depending on assigned territory. Due to communication expectations of the position, the incumbent will be required to maintain cellular or other electronic communication device.
A probationary period is required for this position, during which the employee will work on-site at the Oklahoma State University campus in Stillwater, OK. Upon successful completion of this period and a performance evaluation, eligibility for a remote work arrangement may be considered.
This position requires the physical ability to occasionally lift in excess of 50 pounds.
Major Responsibilities
As an IFSTA Training Specialist, you will:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with end-users by serving as the primary point of contact for IFSTA/FPP customers within an assigned territory.
- Provide training, information, support, and product recommendations for both print and electronic offerings.
- Conduct product presentations and demonstrations for diverse audiences, assisting customers with recommendations and support for developing custom online learning courses using IFSTA/FPP's proprietary learning management system, and providing training on electronic product usage.
- Work with customers during the purchase process to provide quotes and answer questions.
- Travel extensively to meet with potential customers and represent IFSTA/FPP at local, state, national, and international trade shows and conferences.
- Develop and implement an annual sales and marketing plan for the assigned territory, identifying growth opportunities and analyzing competitor products, pricing, sales, and marketing strategies.
- Gather and document customer feedback to contribute to ongoing product improvement and development efforts.
- Grow and maintain professional competence by actively participating in professional development.
- Participate in meetings, conferences and workshops or other events associated with FPP.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
- High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)

Eight years of successful work experience in Fire and Emergency Services. Post-secondary education may be substituted for years of experience
Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
- Firefighter I (or equivalent) or Paramedic, Fire Instructor I (or equivalent), Driver's License.
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
- Customer Service Excellence: Proficiency in customer and personal service principles, encompassing needs assessment, quality standards, various service delivery methods, and customer satisfaction evaluation.
- Emergency Services Training: Deep understanding of the principles and methods for training and program delivery, including online formats, within emergency services.
- Teamwork & Adaptability: Able to take direction and collaborate effectively with teams, while also adapting and responding quickly to new situations with flexibility.
- Organizational & Time Management Skills: Highly organized with a strong ability to set and maintain schedules, manage time effectively, and demonstrate keen attention to detail.
- Problem-Solving & Creativity: Creative in finding solutions.
- Professional Conduct: Operates with a strong sense of ethics and integrity.
Preferred Qualifications

- Proven experience delivering fire and emergency services training programs.
