About this Position
The International Program Specialist will perform the following duties for incoming undergraduate international students. Evaluate all Financial Guarantee documentation and financials. communicate needs to students, families, campus partners, and sponsors. Issue and disburse all Initial and Transfer I-20 documents for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to newly admitted international students. Advise students and staff regarding immigration policies, maintaining status, travel, evaluations, admissions requirements, transfer credit procedures, registration policies, and general academic policies. Monitor student records in Slate for accuracy; communicate with students to ensure information is correct, adjust in/out-of-country questions for SEVIS and visa type as needed. Maintain student records in Banner to ensure accurate immigration information for students and campus partners. Coordinate with Athletics and the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid on the amount of any award to be offered to international students and reflect that amount on each I-20. Monitor and respond to emails in the international undergraduate admissions email account. Guide in-country SEVIS transfer admits through the SEVIS Transfer I-20 process. Work with students and DSO at the previous institution to issue Transfer I-20 once the record is released to OSU in SEVIS. Stay up to date on immigration regulations, policies, and trends. Advise international applicants about admission and U.S. immigration laws and regulations, monitor international student status, and evaluate actions to be taken when an international student's status changes. Advise non-F-1 internationals on policies and regulations. Adjust student records according to needs. Confer with professional resources and colleagues on immigration policies to ensure proper handling of student immigration records. Communicate with international applicants regularly to determine or resolve problematic issues related to their enrollment immigration record or status. Develop and maintain appropriate queries and reports for use in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Submit reports on international student projections to leadership staff each semester. Coordinate Undergraduate arrival dates and procedures with key campus partners. Enter deferral of I-20 program dates in SEVIS as needed for visa process issues. Process SEVIS transfer-out requests prior to enrollment. Establish I-20 program dates and remark information. Assist sponsored student processing for admissions purposes only financial letters and prospective financial support letters as necessary. Identify processing issues and find solutions with assistance from the data and communications team. Update international cost of attendance annually for financial guarantee forms and publications. Provide backup support to the domestic operations team concerning non-immigrant undergraduate applicants to the university. Serve as undergraduate admissions point of contact during arrival week. Communicate and apply immigration regulations to non-immigrant undergraduate applicants to the university. Communicate and apply Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education guidelines for admission to non-immigrant undergraduate applicants. Advise students, scholars, faculty, and staff on non-immigrant undergraduate admission guidelines. Prepare written procedures and updates on non-immigrant undergraduate application guidelines, processes, and procedures. Provide annual updates of the OSU Catalog on non-immigrant undergraduate application guidelines. Assist with and participate in Undergraduate Admissions and Recruitment events, training and other programs for the new students, including occasional commitments outside normal working hours.
