About this Position

Installation and maintenance of telephony infrastructure. Perform move, adds, and changes in communications equipment and circuits. Locate and protect buried and underground cables. The incumbent will be required to be in an on-call/stand-by status for after hours and weekend emergencies, on a rotating basis. The incumbent's salary includes additional compensation to apply toward the use of their personal cellular device. Position may also require occasional travel. Incumbent must be able to lift approximately 100 pounds and work on ladders and some extreme heights.

Required Qualifications

  • High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Three years of related industry experience.

  • Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

    Must have before hire and maintain after hire a valid driver’s license. A valid driver’s license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle, which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned.

  • Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

    Requires interaction with supervisors, colleagues, students, using tact, discretion, and independent judgement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

    Experience in utilizing various locating devices to locate underground utilities. Knowledge and experience in copper and fiber cable splicing and termination. Knowledge of the AWPA Uniform Color Codes. Knowledge of the Oklahoma Underground Facilities Damage Prevention Act. Familiarity with communications cabling and OSP required.
