About this Position

Responsible for preparing appropriate paperwork for patient medical records, and accurate collection and updating of patient demographic and insurance information in the computer. Ensures verification of insurance via insurance websites or by calling the insurance company. Collects co-pays or receipts on the patient balance during the check in process. Assists with the referral/prior-authorization process. Professionally answers multiline phone and handles calls accurately. Follows department standards while scheduling patient appointments. Excellent communication and customer service skills required during all encounters with OSU patients, as well as internal and external providers.

Required Qualifications

  • High School/GED
    • High school or GED minimum
    (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

  • Valid Driver's License 

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

  • Experience working with computers and software.
  • Performing accurate and efficient data entry.
  • Answering multi-line telephone, and scheduling appointments.
  • Must have an understanding of medical terminology.
  • Work well under pressure in a fast-paced clinical environment. 
  • Ability to learn new processes. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six (6) months experience with Electronic Health Records preferred.
