About this Position

The School of Media & Strategic Communications at Oklahoma State University seeks a communication professional with teaching experience to fill a visiting instructor or visiting assistant professor position beginning in August 2026. This position is a nine-month appointment for the 2026-27 academic year.

Responsibilities:

The person in this position will teach four courses per semester during the nine-month academic year. Courses to be taught will principally be writing courses, but could include AP Style writing, reporting or editing courses, Media in a Diverse Society, and/or Media and Information Literacy. Other courses could be assigned according to the applicant's area of expertise if those fit within one of the school's disciplines. If applicant has necessary skills, digital essentials courses could also be taught. The person in this position will also have service responsibilities to include committee work within the school or college.

This position would have a workload of 24 university-defined credits over 9 months.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in communication or related field and prior experience in teaching as instructor of record.
    (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to effectively mentor and collaborate with students and colleagues.
  • Strong command of AP style writing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD or terminal degree in communication or related field.
  • Professional experience in one of the school's disciplines (sports media, journalism or strategic communication).

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

Video, audio, social media and/or graphic design skills.
