About this Position
This position provides primarily Pre-Award sponsored programs support for the faculty and staff in the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM). (This position may include some post-award support as well to maintain proper cross training within the department).
This support would include, but is not limited to: proposal development, contract negotiation, and regulatory compliance. Interpret and apply federal, state and local, and university policies and regulations in order to advise faculty and staff in preparing appropriate proposal budgets, including the calculation of indirect costs and determining allowable direct costs.
Attend national professional meetings and subscribe to electronic federal and state publications to maintain current and timely knowledge of changing regulations. Provide an organizational foundation for quality assurance efforts to support and promote the research enterprise in the College of Veterinary Medicine.
Work with Associate Dean for Research to develop best practices for research administration in CVM; coordinate activities with internal and external stakeholders to develop research funding opportunities for CVM; develop materials and presentations covering research program development for CVM faculty, staff, and students.
Maintain a thorough knowledge of regulations applicable to sponsored programs administration (federal, state, and private). This includes federal and state regulations applicable to all sponsored projects, including OMB Uniform Guidance, Cost Accounting Standards, FAR, and state of Oklahoma purchasing policies. Also maintain a thorough knowledge of University policies concerning sponsored programs, intellectual properties, and related issues.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/ GED. Four years of experience in sponsored programs administration or another closely related field. Post-secondary education may be substituted for experience.
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
Self starter with professional communication skills. Requires efficiency in use of Excel programs; also advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, including mail merge functions. Excellent phone and personal communications skills. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Ability to interpret, understand and implement various policies and procedures as they pertain to major responsibilities. Team oriented in carrying out tasks with co-workers. Attention to detail and accuracy is a must in this position.
