About this Position
Join a team that believes recreation and wellness changes lives. As the Coordinator Operations, you'll lead meaningful programs, develop student leaders, and help create a thriving campus community.
The Coordinator Operations assists with the daily management of the Colvin Recreation Center, Seretean Wellness Center, and Colvin Annex within the Department of Wellness. This position plays a key role in maintaining safe, clean, efficient, and welcoming facilities while supporting operational excellence and risk management initiatives across the department.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with daily facility operations, including staffing, maintenance coordination, and enforcement of policies and procedures.
- Recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating student Operations Attendants, Operations Supervisors, and a Graduate Assistant Operations.
- Ensuring facilities meet high standards of cleanliness, appearance, and operational readiness through routine inspections.
- Supporting customer service excellence by ensuring facilities are welcoming, clean, safe, and appropriately staffed.
- Assisting with payroll processing, budgeting, and inventory management for operational supplies, safety equipment, and facility resources.
- Contributing to risk management efforts through safety audits, incident response procedures, emergency preparedness planning, and staff training.
- Monitoring facility compliance with departmental, university, and industry safety standards and best practices.
- Assisting with the development and delivery of safety training programs for student staff, with an emphasis on emergency response, hazard recognition, and facility protocols.
- Providing on-site supervision during evening and weekend hours as part of departmental operational coverage as necessary.
This position contributes to a positive and engaging experience for all patrons while enhancing the professional development and success of student employees throughout the Department of Wellness.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's
Health Promotion, Recreation Management, Leisure Studies, Exercise Science or another related field
(degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date) -
One year of related professional experience. A two-year Graduate Assistantship will be considered as 1-year of full-time experience.
Additional post-secondary education beyond requirements may substitute for years of required experience.
Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
CPR/AED/First Aid, CPR/AED/First Aid instructor within 90 days of hire
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
Physical Requirement: Must be able to lift 25 pounds and occasionally more
Computer experience: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's
Recreation Management, Leisure Studies or related degree

Two to three years' experience in recreation center operations to include hiring, training, and supervision of students. A completed two-year graduate assistantship in operations in a campus recreation setting. Two to three years of Operations experience in a supervisory environment.

Registered Collegiate Recreational Sports Professional (RCRSP)
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
Previous experience with time and attendance software.
