      Lead Electronics Technician in Norman

      The Gallogly College of Engineering has seen rapid growth in undergraduate and graduate enrollment. Many engineering programs across the schools have teaching laboratories that use electronics to collect and control experiments. The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, in particular, has laboratory courses focused on circuits, sensors, and other topics. Under the direction of the Dean, the Electronics Lab Coordinator will perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled activities related to electronic devices and experiments across schools in engineering. The person will place orders for, prepare, and maintain laboratory materials, supplies, and associated equipment. The new Electronics Lab Coordinator will be assigned duties requiring considerable technical knowledge and ability in electronics. The Electronics Lab Coordinator is expected to exercise independent judgment in the performance of duties and is responsible for supervising and maintaining laboratory supplies, materials, equipment, and records.

      The Student Support Specialist is responsible for comprehensive inventory management, handling deliveries, scanning equipment into tracking systems, and organizing replacement cycles for faculty and staff. This position manages detailed asset assignment records in Excel, coordinates with administrative departments for new hire equipment location, and arranges delivery of technology assets across campus. The Specialist maintains thorough documentation of all deliveries, including location information and photographic confirmation. This role maintains equipment readiness by rebuilding and refurbishing computers, focusing on preparing backup units and loaners for departmental needs and events. The Specialist provides some first-level technical support to faculty and staff, troubleshooting hardware and software issues while escalating complex problems to senior technicians when necessary. Additional responsibilities include providing basic technical support for printers, software, and computer configurations within account permission levels, as well as assisting with lab updates and network connectivity audits. A core function of this position is surplus management, requiring documentation of serial numbers and unique identifiers before processing equipment for retirement.       IT Research Computing System Specialist (Fall) in Norman

      OU IT is currently hiring the position of IT Research Computing System Specialist. This position provides research computing system administration and/or other system-facing tasks. Students in this role will troubleshoot minor issues, assist in deploying and maintaining research computing systems and components, provide technical support, and communicate with various IT teams to resolve more technically advanced customer incidents and system maintenance issues. Most shifts will take place between 8am-5pm CST, Monday through Friday. Some weekend shifts may be required. For this position, required training will occur on the job as part of this position’s duties, potentially including job shadowing. Regular attendance at research computing team meetings will be required, in person and/or via videoconferencing. Due to the amount of time and effort that must be devoted to on-boarding new employees, this position is not recommended for applicants who intend to work in the role for less than two academic semesters.
