The OU McNair Scholars Program is seeking a Graduate Assistant to mentor undergraduate scholars as they prepare for graduate education and research careers. This position supports scholars with undergraduate research, conference presentations, graduate applications, and GRE preparation while also assisting with recruitment, workshops, outreach, and program events. Graduate assistant appointment includes: a full waiver of graduate tuition (student is responsible for paying associated fees), a bi-weekly stipend, and health insurance coverage. Student Library Assistants in Bizzell Memorial Library 5th Floor Special Collections provide assistance to patrons using the History of Science Collections, the Bass Business History Collection, the John and Mary Nichols Collections, and the Bizzell Bible Collection. Duties include staffing the Welcome Desk and the Research Desk, greeting visitors, answering telephones, explaining reading room rules, and paging books for patrons. Student employees may also assist with digitization projects, filling interlibrary loan requests, stacks, maintenance, and other duties as assigned. Dr. Weiqin Chen in the Department of Biochemistry and Physiology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC) invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral research scholar position. This position will involve conducting molecular, biochemical, physiological, and genetic analyses using in vitro cellular and in vivo animal models and writing manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications, reports, and presentations to academic and community audiences. The candidate will also gain experience in grantsmanship and research design, planning, and execution. Dr. Chen’s research focuses on elucidating the biological mechanisms underlying cardiometabolic diseases. Her lab is well funded by the NHLBI and NIDDK. The lab uses cutting-edge techniques such as large-scale “-Omics,” genomic editing, and advanced imaging, with cells and mice as models to study obesity, lipodystrophy, heart failure, and fatty liver diseases.
